Deliberations of the bicameral conference committee on the proposed 2026 national budget may start as early as December, according to House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson and Nueva Ecija 1st District Representative Mika Suansing.
“Nagsimula na pong mag-coordinate ang Kongreso at Senado patungkol po doon sa rules ng bicam. I believe hindi na kailangan ng resolution to actualize that. Nandun na siya sa binubuo naming rules,” Suansing said.
She also expressed full support for making the bicam discussions open to the public.
“Simula pa lang sinabi ko na yan, suportado ko ang open bicam, meaning livestream. Sinabi na rin yan si Speaker (Bojie) Dy na suportado nya rin `yun. So sa parte po ng Kongreso, we will make the necessary steps to ensure that we’ll have an open bicam,” she added.
Suansing likewise assured the public that the version of the 2026 national budget approved by the House contains no Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control projects or undisclosed insertions.
