BIR SURPASSES COLLECTION TARGET IN EARLY 2026 WITH ₱530B REVENUE

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has exceeded its internal collection target for the opening months of 2026, recording ₱530.055 billion in net revenues.

In a statement released Friday, the agency said its preliminary collections from January 1 to February 28 surpassed the ₱527.775-billion goal by ₱2.28 billion, achieving 100.43% of its target net of tax refunds.

The latest figure also represents a ₱15.307-billion increase from the ₱514.748 billion collected during the same period in 2025, reflecting a 2.97% year-on-year growth.

The BIR attributed the improved performance to intensified tax administration and stronger enforcement efforts, noting that ongoing initiatives continue to enhance taxpayer compliance nationwide.

“Despite global economic headwinds, the BIR remains optimistic and firmly committed to sustaining revenue growth and meeting its 2026 goals,” the bureau said.

The agency added that it is pursuing its mandate through a “balanced and people-centered approach,” aimed at generating revenues for national development while safeguarding taxpayer rights.

The BIR also reiterated its support for the fiscal stability and inclusive growth agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and affirmed its commitment to advancing institutional modernization under the leadership of Finance Secretary Frederick Go.
