The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has found irregularities in the import documents of several luxury cars owned by celebrity couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya, which they had flaunted in past interviews.
According to the BOC’s initial probe, eight of the seized luxury vehicles had no import records or certificates of payment.
“’Yan ay red flag kaagad na potensyal na talagang maraming nangyaring mali dyan,” said BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.
The importers of the flagged vehicles have been given 15 days to submit the proper documents. Failure to comply will result in the issuance of a warrant of seizure and detention (WSD).
Meanwhile, seven other vehicles were found with import entry documents but lacked certificates of payment, which also makes them subject to seizure.
“Obligado rin kami gawin yung warrant of seizure and detention dyan, WSD, at iimbestigahan din namin yung mga naging transaksyon ng mga consignee o yung mga nag-import nito,” Nepomuceno added.
The BOC said further investigation will determine potential liability not only of the consignees but also of all parties involved in the questionable import transactions.
