BOC SEIZES 28 LUXURY CARS OF DISCAYA FAMILY AS PROTESTERS TARGET PASIG COMPOUND

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Thursday confirmed it has placed 28 luxury vehicles owned by the family of controversial contractors Pacifico “Curlee” and Sarah Discaya under its custody.

The Discayas, whose companies secured multi-billion peso flood control projects now under scrutiny, “surrendered” 16 luxury vehicles on Thursday.

This came just two days after BOC operatives, armed with a court-issued search warrant, secured 12 more high-end vehicles inside the St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor and Development Corp. compound in Pasig City, one of the nine firms owned or controlled by the couple.

But the day’s drama didn’t end there.

Outside the St. Gerrard compound in Barangay Bambang, the People Surge National Alliance of Disaster Survivors and Victims—joined by environmental group Kalikasan—launched a fiery protest Thursday morning.

The demonstrators hurled mud and rocks at the property and spray-painted the words “magnanakaw” (thief) and “ikulong” (jail them) across the office gates and walls, demanding the immediate conviction of the Discayas over their alleged role in anomalous government flood control projects.

The Pasig residence and office of the Discayas had earlier been exposed to the public when BOC footage of its raid was broadcast on television and social media, further fueling outrage.
