The 24-member Central Luzon bloc, led by Pampanga 2nd District Representative and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has declared its “full, unequivocal, and resolute support” for House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III’s leadership.
In a resolution adopted on December 15, the bloc emphasized that unity and principled leadership were essential as the House faced heightened political, economic, and social challenges.
“The Central Luzon bloc recognizes that strong leadership at this critical juncture is essential to preserve institutional integrity, protect the independence of Congress, and ensure the effective delivery of legislative priorities for the Filipino people,” the resolution read.
“Unity within Congress, guided by a strong and capable Speaker, is imperative to overcome divisive forces, uphold public trust, and advance the collective good beyond partisan interests,” it added.
The group cited Dy’s decisive, inclusive, and steady leadership, which has allowed the House to function effectively amid growing pressures and repeated attacks.
They also noted his focus on “accountability, collegiality, and fairness” in safeguarding the institution’s independence.
The resolution was signed by Arroyo, the bloc’s chairperson emeritus, its president Anna York Bondoc, and other members including House Deputy Speaker Jefferson Khonghun, Appropriations Committee Chair Mika Suansing, and representatives from Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, and Aurora.
With these endorsements, a total of 266 out of the 318-member chamber have renewed their support for Dy.
