CHAVIT SINGSON WITHDRAWS SUPPORT, HITS MARCOS ON CORRUPTION AND BUDGET

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has officially withdrawn his support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In a press conference on Friday, September 19, at Club Filipino in San Juan City, Singson openly challenged the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to investigate flood control projects in Ilocos Norte, the President’s home province. He pointed to Sarah and Curlee Discaya of St. Gerrard Construction Company as the main contractors in the area.

“I mentioned Ilocos Norte because that’s where the President came from,” Singson declared.

The former governor stressed that Marcos has no moral authority to denounce corruption in government, claiming that the President himself is part of the problem—particularly for signing the controversial 2025 national budget.

“When the President mentioned graft and corruption in flood control, he’s part of that. Hasn’t he forgotten?” Singson said.

He also urged young people to join the fight against corruption through peaceful protest, calling on students to boycott their classes as a form of resistance.

“My suggestion is for high school and college (students), for them to stop until all corrupt officials have stepped down from office,” Singson added.

As of now, neither President Marcos nor the Office of the President has issued a statement in response to Singson’s remarks.
