The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) said telecommunications companies are prepared to block access to the online gaming platform Roblox if the government decides to impose restrictions over alleged risks to children.
The announcement followed a meeting on Tuesday between CICC officials, the National Telecommunications Commission, and major telcos to discuss reports of predators and illegal activity targeting minors through Roblox.
CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Renato Paraiso said the platform was given 15 days to engage with authorities to address the concerns.
“Kaya binigyan na lang namin sila ng 15 days to reach out to the government, the DICT and the CICC in particular, to discuss why we shouldn’t restrict their platform in the Philippine jurisdiction. Not only harmful but illegal contents online are happening within their platform,” Paraiso said.
The agency also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s online activities and ensure their safety both on and offline.
