CLAIRE CASTRO DENIES RUMORS OF BEING TAPPED AS NEXT JUSTICE SECRETARY

Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro has denied circulating rumors claiming she is being considered to succeed incoming Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

During a Malacañang press briefing on Tuesday, October 8, Castro was asked about the speculation and whether President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had raised the matter with her.

“Unang-una po, hindi po natin alam kung saan nagsimula iyan so wala pong katotohanan iyan,” she said.

When further asked if she would accept the post should it be offered, Castro opted not to comment, calling it a “hypothetical question.”

As of now, President Marcos has not yet appointed a new Justice Secretary to replace Remulla, who formally assumed his post as Ombudsman on October 7.
