The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced it has reached its target of registering 1.4 million new voters, more than three months after the resumption of nationwide voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
Data shared with reporters showed a total of 1,468,228 registrations processed. Of these, 776,373 were women and 691,855 were men.
Out of the total, 1,113,418 were regular voters aged 18 and above, while 354,810 were Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) registrants aged 15 to 17. New SK registrants accounted for 349,508.
COMELEC also recorded 1,231 applications for transfer from another city or municipality, and 403 transfers within the same locality. Applications for new regular voters stood at 395,947, while 60,206 sought reactivation of their records.
Officials said the turnout reflects strong public participation ahead of the 2026 BSKE, underscoring the importance of grassroots elections in shaping local governance.
