The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has proclaimed Atty. Jan Almario Chan as the new Ako Bicol Partylist representative, succeeding Zaldy Co, who resigned in September following his reported involvement in anomalous flood control projects.
In his first remarks after the proclamation, Chan expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve in Congress.
“Unang-una, very excited tayo to serve in Congress. Medyo unexpected naman itong pagkakataon na ito, pero priority natin ngayon is to continue what Ako Bicol has been doing regarding public service and, of course, yung mga tulong natin,” he said.
He added that he plans to introduce measures promoting renewable energy, mental health, and disaster resilience.
“Hopefully, maprove ko po that in the next two and a half years, maganda po yung maibibigay natin sa ating mga kababayan,” Chan said, emphasizing his goal to strengthen Ako Bicol’s legacy of public service.
