The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will begin voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 21, ahead of the polls scheduled for November 2, 2026.
According to COMELEC Chairman Atty. George Erwin Garcia, the registration period will run for seven months, until May 2026, and will be open nationwide for all types of registration transactions.
The poll body is targeting around 1.4 million new voters to sign up during the period.
Garcia said the COMELEC will also implement online registration to help prevent incidents such as fainting or heat exhaustion that occurred during the last day of the 10-day registration in August, when long queues and large crowds were reported.
However, Garcia clarified that first-time voters are not covered by the online registration system. They must still appear in person at COMELEC offices or designated mall registration sites under the “Register Anytime, Anywhere” program.
He also emphasized that the upcoming registration does not include voters for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections, which will have a separate registration schedule after the regional polls to avoid confusion.
