The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is set to begin printing more than 90 million ballots on Monday, October 13, in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for November 2, 2026.
According to COMELEC Chairman Atty. George Erwin Garcia, the ballot printing will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City.
“It is the first time in the history of the Comelec and NPO that we will print more than 90 million ballots. This is the first time we are printing these many ballots,” said Garcia.
Out of the total number, 69 million ballots will be allocated for the barangay elections, while 23 million will be used for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.
The COMELEC will also print official ballots and accountable forms that will be used during the BSKE.
Garcia explained that the early start of ballot printing—over a year before election day—is meant to ensure ample preparation time and allow the commission to address any potential technical or logistical issues ahead of time.
“We want to make sure that if there will be any problems, at least our printing, including verification, will be completed as soon as possible,” he added.
Garcia also mentioned that the total number of ballots may increase to around 95 million, with voter registration set to resume on October 20 and run until May 18, 2026.
The BSKE was originally scheduled for December 1, 2025, but has since been rescheduled to the first Monday of November 2026.
