COURTS ISSUE ARRESTS AGAINST DISCAYA, OTHERS IN GHOST FLOOD PROJECT

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reported a major development in the government’s crackdown on corruption in flood control projects, announcing that courts have issued warrants of arrest against contractor Sarah Discaya and nine other key individuals linked to a ₱96.5 million alleged ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.

“Ipapa-abot ko po sa inyo na ang ₱96.5 million ng ghost flood project sa Davao Occidental, naglabas na ng warrant of arrest ang korte laban sa sampung pangunahing sangkot dito sa anomalyang ito,” Marcos said in a video update.

The accused face graft and malversation charges.

Discaya is currently in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Marcos further revealed that eight Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials have expressed their intention to surrender as the investigation expands.

“Bukod dito, may walong opisyal pa ng DPWH ang nagpahayag ng kagustuhan nilang sumuko,” he said.

He stressed that the probe is ongoing and that more cases will follow.
