The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released nearly ₱1.7 billion to replenish the Quick Response Funds (QRF) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to strengthen disaster response and recovery efforts after recent typhoons.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the fund will help agencies respond swiftly and support affected communities, especially farmers and fishers reeling from the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan.
“Malaki ang damage ng mga bagyo at sakuna sa ating agrikultura at ang numero uno pong biktima n’yan ‘yung ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda,” Pangandaman said.
“Kaya sa hiling po ng DA na i-replenish ‘yung kanilang QRF, agad na inaprubahan po natin ‘yan.”
Of the total amount, ₱1 billion went to the DA for agricultural recovery and rehabilitation; ₱631 million to the DSWD for relief goods, cash aid, and logistics; and ₱53 million to the PCG for search, rescue, and relief operations.
Pangandaman emphasized that the fund ensures continued government assistance to disaster-hit families and communities.
