DE LIMA CHALLENGES MARCOS TO PUBLICLY RELEASE HIS SALN

House Deputy Minority Leader and Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Representative Leila De Lima has challenged President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to prove he is different from his predecessor by making his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) public.

De Lima said Marcos should also encourage members of his Cabinet to follow suit as a demonstration of his commitment to transparency and good governance.

“Tutal sinama na rin naman ng administrasyong ito ang isinusulong natin na Freedom of Information Act as one of its priority measures this 20th Congress, the President should demonstrate his sincerity and commitment to transparency and accountability by disclosing his SALN and encouraging his Cabinet to do the same,” De Lima said.

She added that Marcos must show that he is not like the previous administration, which, according to her, kept its SALNs secret despite claims of fighting corruption.

“Patunayan niyang iba siya sa sinundan niya na galit sa korapsiyon kuno pero isinikreto lang ang SALN, kasama ng protektor niyang Ombudsman. Hindi puwedeng hanggang salita lang ang paglaban sa korapsiyon, ‘yung biglang kambyo at ang dami pang kuskos-balungos sa simpleng paglalabas ng SALN,” De Lima added.

The lawmaker also pressed Marcos to launch an all-out campaign against corruption, saying true accountability begins with transparency.
