DELA ROSA TOPS SENATE ABSENCES IN 20TH CONGRESS SESSION

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa registered the highest number of absences in the first regular session of the 20th Congress, based on the Senate’s official attendance record.

From July 28, 2025 to March 18, 2026, dela Rosa was absent in 31 out of 58 session days. His absences began in November 2025, after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla disclosed that the International Criminal Court had issued an arrest order against him over his role in the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

Ranking second was Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, who missed 14 sessions and was late 24 times. Cayetano also held the record for most absences in the 19th Congress, attending only 36 of 54 session days.

Newly elected Senator Camille Villar logged 16 absences due to maternity leave.

Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Senators Win Gatchalian, Jinggoy Estrada, Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos, Joel Villanueva, Bam Aquino, Christopher “Bong” Go, Rodante Marcoleta, and Risa Hontiveros all recorded perfect attendance.

Senators Kiko Pangilinan, Erwin Tulfo, and Chiz Escudero each had one absence, while Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson, Loren Legarda, and Lito Lapid each missed two days.

Senator Pia Cayetano attended 55 sessions, Senator Mark Villar 53, and both Senators JV Ejercito and Raffy Tulfo were present for 52 session days.
