The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that it will conduct a series of orientations to prepare school principals, teachers, and other stakeholders for the implementation of the three-term school calendar beginning School Year 2026–2027.
DepEd said the new system is part of its efforts to improve the quality of basic education, strengthen instructional planning, and ensure smoother delivery of the K to 12 curriculum.
The orientations will cover policies and operational adjustments tied to the shift, including assessment and grading, lesson planning, education in emergencies, flexible learning programs, and enhanced senior high school work immersion.
Sessions will begin this April for regional and division officials as well as school heads, followed by orientations for master teachers and classroom teachers in May. Additional details on schedules and participation guidelines will be released soon.
“These orientations aim to provide clear guidance and ensure stability across schools as preparations for the next school year begin. DepEd is working to make the transition orderly and well-supported,” the agency said.
This marks a significant change in the academic calendar structure, with DepEd emphasizing that the transition will be carefully managed to minimize disruption and maximize benefits for learners.
