DICT UNVEILS PROACTIVE CYBERSECURITY DRIVE

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched three key initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s cybersecurity posture through a more proactive approach.

DICT Cybersecurity Undersecretary Julius Gorospe announced the rollout of the Bug Bounty Program, the DICT Trusted Assessment Provider (D-TAP) framework, and the Cybersecurity Posture Assessment Laboratory (CPAL).

The measures are designed to integrate security safeguards into government systems before vulnerabilities can be exploited.

“We are moving beyond reacting to cyber incidents. These programs institutionalize proactive security, thereby protecting government systems and the Filipino people who depend on them,” Gorospe said.

The Bug Bounty Program encourages ethical hackers to responsibly disclose system vulnerabilities, helping secure digital services widely used by the public.

The D-TAP Framework accredits trusted cybersecurity firms to conduct vulnerability assessments and audits, ensuring government platforms and critical infrastructure comply with strict security standards.

Meanwhile, the CPAL provides structured cybersecurity posture assessments, enabling agencies to detect weaknesses early and reinforce defenses ahead of potential cyberattacks.

Gorospe underscored the importance of collaboration in securing the digital space.

“Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. By engaging ethical hackers, accrediting trusted assessors, and institutionalizing posture assessments, we are building a resilient digital ecosystem for the country.”
