DICT WARNS OF POSSIBLE DDOS TRAFFIC SURGE ON NOV. 5

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has issued a warning about a possible Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) traffic flood that may occur on November 5.

In an advisory posted on X (formerly Twitter), the DICT said that some websites could experience slowdowns due to an expected surge in online traffic.

“This is not a data breach — no information will be stolen. The site is just overloaded!” the DICT clarified.

A DDoS attack is a type of cyberattack in which multiple computers or devices simultaneously send massive amounts of traffic to a website, server, or online service.

The main goal is to overload the target’s resources — such as bandwidth, memory, or processing power — until legitimate users can no longer access the site or it completely stops functioning.
