The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) have officially rolled out the digital version of the National ID for senior citizens through the government’s flagship eGovPH Super App.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda and NCSC chairperson Mary Jean Loreche spearheaded the launch held at the Manila Hotel on Friday.
The new Digital Senior Citizen ID aims to make it easier for Filipino seniors to access their legally mandated rights and benefits, including discounts, healthcare services, transportation perks, and retail advantages.
Loreche emphasized the impact of the initiative, noting that around nine million senior citizens, or about 8% of the Philippine population, stand to benefit from the shift from physical cards to the digital ID system under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act.
