DILG ORDERS PNP TO EXECUTE ARRESTS IN FLOOD CONTROL SCANDAL

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to enforce arrest warrants tied to alleged irregularities in government flood control projects.

In a statement Saturday, the DILG said it is acting on President Bongbong Marcos’ directive following the issuance of multiple warrants linked to the scandal.

“The Department of the Interior and Local Government is acting on the President’s directive following the issuance of arrest warrants linked to alleged irregularities in flood control projects,” the agency said.

The department emphasized that enforcement will follow due process and all individuals named in the warrants will be treated fairly.

“Enforcement will not depend on personalities or politics. Anyone who is the subject of a lawful warrant will be apprehended. The law applies equally to all and the DILG will carry out what needs to be done,” the statement added.

Highlighting the importance of protecting public funds, the DILG stressed: “Public funds must be protected. Integrity in government must be upheld.”

The statement noted that officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and private contractors linked to the irregular flood control projects are among those targeted.

“The DILG will enforce the law and ensure that accountability proceeds as it should, for the safety and welfare of our people,” it concluded.
