DISCAYA RETRACTS ADMISSION ON MULTIPLE BIDDINGS IN FLOOD PROJECTS; TO FILE CASES VS PROTESTERS

Sarah Discaya, owner of Alpha and Omega Gen. Contractor and Development Inc., has retracted her earlier admission before the Senate Committee on Accountability, Public Officers and Investigations (Blue Ribbon Committee) that nine (9) companies owned by her family simultaneously joined government project biddings.

Her legal counsel, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, claimed that Discaya only had a “mix up” during the hearing, stressing that she was not used to appearing in any Senate investigation.

“Mix up si ma’am eh, nalito na rin siya dahil sa pagod, stress, puyat, first time nyang um-appear ng ganun, alam nyo naman si ma’am, di naman sya sanay sa ganyan,” said Samaniego.

It can be recalled that Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada grilled Discaya in a previous hearing, where she admitted that the nine companies owned by her family sometimes competed against one another for a single government-related project. That admission, however, is now being taken back.

Samaniego confirmed that Discaya will again face the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on Monday, September 8, this time with her husband, Curlee Discaya.

In an interview on One News’ Sa Totoo Lang, Samaniego also revealed that his clients will file a criminal complaint against a group that staged a protest inside the compound of St. Gerrard Construction Company in Pasig City.

According to him, the Discayas will file charges of malicious mischief and unjust vexation against the protesters who vandalized and threw mud at the company’s property.
