DIZON, ROBREDO MEET IN NAGA, DOWNPLAY 2028 POLITICS

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on Tuesday met anew with former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, emphasizing that their discussions centered on local governance—not the 2028 elections.

The clarification came after tarpaulins featuring both officials circulated on social media, prompting speculation about possible political alignments.

Dizon urged the public to ignore such materials.

“Puwede ba nagtatrabaho lang kami dito, ‘wag n’yo nang papansinin yung mga ganyan,” he said.

Dizon explained that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had directed him to visit local government units to better understand on-the-ground concerns and improve coordination with local leaders.

“In fact, kailangan talagang makatrabaho natin ang mga mayors kasi mayors ang may alam ng problema, yung nasyunal madalas malayo kami sa totoong problema,” he added.

During the visit in Naga City, Dizon and Robredo discussed plans to rehabilitate roads and sidewalks, with a focus on making infrastructure more pedestrian-friendly amid rising oil prices.

Robredo identified MT Villanueva Avenue as the initial project site, citing its wide road space and proximity to major schools.

“Gusto nating umpisahan ang MT Villanueva kasi unang-una malawak yung road, pangalawa yung malalaking schools nando’n, pangatlo parang low-hanging fruit siya kasi wala pang obstruction pero ang hope natin, susunod na yung iba pang road, Peñafrancia, Magsaysay,” she said.

Dizon also inspected ongoing anti-flood infrastructure projects in the city, which were previously surveyed in February alongside the President and Robredo.
