DOH PLACES FACILITIES UNDER CODE WHITE ALERT AHEAD OF STORM ‘OPONG’

The Department of Health (DOH) has raised a Code White Alert in all its facilities and regional offices as the country braces for Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi).

The alert status means the DOH Operations Center has prepositioned essential medicines, readied medical equipment, and mobilized Health Emergency Response Teams for quick deployment to affected areas.

Three Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Teams are also on standby to provide reinforcement if hospitals require additional support during or after the storm’s onslaught.

Authorities said the national emergency hotline 911 and local hotlines are now on heightened alert. The public is urged to stay tuned to official weather bulletins, prepare emergency kits, and follow safety precautions to prevent injuries and illnesses during the cyclone.
