The Department of Health (DOH) reported a decline in influenza-like illness (ILI) cases during the first two weeks of October compared to the previous monitoring period.
In an interview with DZMM, Health Promotion Bureau Director Tina Marasigan said that from September 28 to October 11, 2025, the DOH recorded 6,457 ILI cases nationwide.
“Mas mababa ito ng 39 porsyento kumpara sa 10,740 kaso na naitala mula Setyembre 14 hanggang Setyembre 27,” Marasigan said.
She added that the figure is also 25 percent lower than the 8,628 cases recorded during the same period in 2024, though the numbers may still change as surveillance data continues to be updated.
In a press briefing, Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa clarified that there is no flu outbreak and no plans for lockdown, countering misinformation circulating online.
“Walang planong lockdown; fake news ‘yan. Ang meron tayo ay mga karaniwang seasonal respiratory illnesses. Wala tayong flu outbreak,” Herbosa said.
The health chief explained that respiratory illnesses such as coughs and flu tend to spread faster during the rainy season, and advised the public to wear face masks and stay home if experiencing symptoms.
