DOJ FILES TAX EVASION CASES AGAINST CONTRACTOR CURLEE DISCAYA

Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon confirmed that four tax evasion cases have been filed against government contractor Curlee Discaya before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), following delays caused by his motion for reconsideration.

Fadullon explained that the motion has now been dismissed, allowing the Department of Justice (DOJ) to pursue charges against Discaya for alleged tax evasion and failure to file accurate tax returns.

Earlier, on February 6, similar charges were filed against Discaya’s wife, Sarah, after Curlee sought reconsideration.
Discaya, currently in Senate custody, is the sole proprietor of St. Gerard Construction.

Both he and his wife have been linked to alleged irregularities in flood control projects. The criminal information, dated December 2025, was filed before the CTA on March 12, with defense lawyers entering their appearance as his counsel on March 18.

Government estimates last November placed the Discayas’ tax liability at around ₱7.18 billion, covering unpaid individual income taxes and documentary taxes tied to their divestment from four construction firms.

If convicted, the charges carry penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to ₱100,000.
