DOJ SLAMS CONTRACTOR’S “FINGER HEART” SIGN AMID FLOOD CONTROL PROBE

The Department of Justice (DOJ) criticized contractor Sarah Discaya—implicated in the alleged anomalous flood control projects—after she made a “finger heart” gesture while being approached by members of the media during her visit to the DOJ office.

“The heart sign and the remarks of Ms. Sarah Discaya are all taken into account in the assessment and evaluation of the persons involved,” DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano said.

He added: “It is a sign of insincerity and complacency.”

Aside from flashing the finger heart, Discaya also quipped, “Gandahan nyo memes ko” (“Make my memes look good”) as she left the DOJ office, holding a Starbucks cup—an act that drew further anger and ridicule from netizens.

Currently, Discaya and her husband Curlee are under the DOJ’s Witness Protection Program (WPP), along with former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara, former Assistant Engineer Brice Hernandez, and DPWH engineer Jaypee Mendoza.

However, DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla clarified that they have not yet been considered state witnesses. He explained that once placed under such status, they could no longer face charges related to the cases in question.
