The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued subpoenas to Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., and former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan over plunder complaints linked to a ₱92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez confirmed the issuance of the subpoenas on Tuesday, noting that service to the respondents is still being completed.
“Subpoenas issued and waiting to complete receiving copies for their service to respondents,” Martinez said in a message to reporters.
Preliminary hearings for the case have been scheduled on February 2 and 12.
The complaint arose from allegations that commissions from flood control projects were diverted to the camps of Revilla and Estrada, based on claims made by former Public Works Engineer Henry Alcantara.
Former Public Works Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo also implicated Bonoan, alleging he was instructed to submit projects for possible inclusion in the proposed national budget.
Revilla surrendered last week after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him. He is currently undergoing quarantine at the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory before his transfer.
Both Revilla and Estrada had previously been charged in connection with the pork barrel scam but were later acquitted.
