Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joel Villanueva is facing three separate non-bailable malversation cases at the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to agency spokesman Atty. Polo Martinez.
Martinez said the complaints stem from an alleged questionable flood control project in Bulacan involving Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc. The cases are currently under preliminary investigation.
In one of them, Villanueva requested more time to submit his counter-affidavit and did not personally attend the hearing on Tuesday, January 20. Prosecutors granted his request, giving him until January 26.
So far, Villanueva has filed a counter-affidavit in one of the three cases.
