The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has reminded bus operators to comply with the directive suspending fare increases until President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. gives the go signal.
This follows reports that some bus companies continue to collect higher fares despite the President’s order to defer the hike.
“Nakarating nga sa amin ‘yung ulat na ‘yan. Ang sabi nga ng ating Pangulo, ipagpaliban muna natin ‘yung pagtataas kaya inaapura ang pamimigay ng subsidiya at iba’t ibang programa,” said Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
Lopez warned that bus operators who defy the directive may face show cause orders, particularly those operating at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). He also urged commuters to report violators so immediate action can be taken.
The Secretary further cautioned that non-compliant operators risk losing their franchises.
Lopez made the statement while accompanying Marcos at the opening of the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B, a project expected to ease traffic congestion along Sucat Road and C5 Extension.
