Eight officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have been relieved from their posts amid an ongoing investigation, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon announced.

Those relieved include regional directors Ronnel Tan of Ilocos, Jovel Mendoza of CALABARZON, Virgilio Eduardo of Bicol, and Danilo Villa of Central Visayas; assistant regional directors Neil Farala of MIMAROPA and Annie dela Vega of Bicol; and district engineers Ruel Umali of Metro Manila’s 3rd District Engineering Office and Manny Bulusan of the South Manila District Engineering Office.

Dizon declined to provide further details on the nature of the investigations involving the officials.

In addition, three more DPWH officials were removed for allegedly failing to meet Civil Service Commission (CSC) qualifications.

They are district engineers Sherylann Gonzales of La Union 1st District Engineering Office, Roy Pacanan of Iloilo City District Engineering Office, and Peter Scheller Soco of Leyte 4th District Engineering Office.

Dizon also said he will testify before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the case against resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co, with trial proceedings set on January 20.
