Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon announced that Undersecretary Arrey Perez has submitted his irrevocable resignation following allegations linking him to certain contractors.
Dizon said Perez decided to step down to prevent the controversy from affecting the agency’s ongoing efforts and credibility.
“He resigned to ensure that the work and integrity of the DPWH will not be compromised,” Dizon stated.
However, the secretary clarified that Perez will still be investigated, underscoring that the government’s crusade against corruption must always rely on verified facts, not speculation.
“The fight against corruption must be based on truth, not rumors,” he emphasized.
Perez was among the five newly appointed DPWH undersecretaries and had taken his oath as Undersecretary for Operations in charge of Convergence Projects and Technical Services last September 5.
The allegations stemmed from a complaint filed by Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste, the son of Senator Loren Legarda.
Dizon assured that the DPWH remains committed to transparency and accountability as it continues its infrastructure projects under the administration’s “Build Better More” program.
