DSWD MOVES TO DIGITALIZE CASH AID DISTRIBUTION FOR 4PS AND AICS BENEFICIARIES

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to digitalize the distribution of cash assistance for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) beneficiaries.

In an interview, DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the shift aims to prevent exploitation by some government officials.

“Kasi ayaw na rin po namin na pumipila ‘yung mga client sa ating mga offices,” she said.

Dumlao noted that the agency already accepts walk-in requests for AICS without endorsements from mayors or politicians, as the previous policy allowed corrupt officials to skim aid.

“Lagi po naming sinasabi na we cater to all individuals in crisis situations whether or not merong endorsement from anyone. That’s why we cater to walk-in clients,” she added.

The digital payout system will also make it easier for beneficiaries in remote areas to access funds without traveling.

“Because for it to prosper, for it to really succeed, kinakailangan kasi, naniniwala po kami na kinakailangan ‘yung mga tao on the ground maintindihan and matutunan nila ang digital literacy,” Dumlao said.
