DTI TIGHTENS PRICE MONITORING AHEAD OF UNDAS

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is strengthening its price monitoring efforts to ensure that products commonly purchased for Undas remain affordable and sufficiently supplied for consumers.

On Wednesday, October 29, DTI Secretary Cristina Roque led an inspection at a market in Guadalupe, Makati City, where her team checked the prices and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities — particularly candles and bottled water, which are in high demand during the observance of Undas.

During the inspection, the DTI found that all 224 stock keeping units (SKUs) inspected were within the agency’s suggested retail price list.

“We commend our retailers for upholding fair prices in the interest and welfare of our consumers,” Roque said in a statement.

“Rest assured that the DTI will continue to diligently monitor markets to keep prices affordable while also ensuring that our businesses remain sustainable and profitable. It’s a win-win for all,” she added.

Since the beginning of October, the DTI has already inspected 19 flower shops to check for price compliance and encouraged vendors to offer reasonable prices for their products.
