The camp of former President Rodrigo Duterte has received the report from the panel of experts appointed by the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding his health, aimed at assessing his ability to stand trial.
This was confirmed by Duterte’s legal counsel in his ICC case, Nicholas Kaufman, on Saturday, December 6.
He said the document remains confidential, and both parties have been given the opportunity to submit their responses by December 12.
The ICC had given the experts until December 5 to submit their findings, following a defense request for an indefinite adjournment of proceedings.
Earlier, the ICC Appeals Chamber on November 28 denied Duterte’s appeal for interim release. He is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands over crimes against humanity charges related to his administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.
