Good news for workers in Eastern Visayas: minimum wages for employees and domestic helpers in the region will increase starting December.
According to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), the daily minimum wage in the private sector will rise by ₱35 in two stages: ₱17 starting December 8 and an additional ₱18 on June 1, 2026.
Once fully implemented, wages for non-agriculture and service/retail establishments with more than 10 employees will reach ₱470, up from ₱435. For service/retail establishments with 1–10 employees, the cottage and handicraft sector, and agriculture, wages will increase to ₱440 from ₱405.
Monthly pay for domestic helpers will also go up starting December 8, reaching ₱6,400 in chartered cities and first-class municipalities, and ₱5,800 in other towns.
The wage hike covers the cities of Calbayog, Catbalogan, Baybay, Borongan, Maasin, Ormoc, and Tacloban, as well as the provinces of Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Southern Leyte, and Samar, the NWPC stated.
