Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito believes that former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co is the “most guilty” among the government officials implicated in the alleged flood control fund scam.
In a television interview, Ejercito said Co’s departure from the country—and his continued absence—suggests guilt.
“I think flight means guilt, and if he’s really not guilty, he has to come home, no matter if there’s death threat,” he stated, calling Co a “critical figure in all of this mess.”
Ejercito also expressed understanding of the public’s outrage over the corruption allegations.
“I understand the wrath, the anger of the people. I think this is the biggest corruption scandal and scam in the history of our country,” he said.
Calling it “the worst” he has seen, Ejercito decried how government projects were allegedly sold and faked.
“It’s just too much… Insatiable greed, I would say,” he added.
