Caloocan City 2nd District Representative Egay Erice expressed skepticism over Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla’s recent statement that plunder charges will be filed next month against Senator Chiz Escudero and former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez.
“Marami nang pangako na napako, so ano na ‘yan, hindi na kapani-paniwala. I don’t believe it,” Erice said in an interview.
The lawmaker also cited unfulfilled promises from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
“Si Presidente na mismo ang nangako may makukulong December 15, (2025). Andami ng pinangako, yung ICI hanggang ngayon wala pa yung reports…. hindi mailabas yung reports eh. Yung Independent People’s Commission na ipinangako ni Presidente ginawa niyang priority legislation hindi rin naman natuloy,” Erice said.
“Marami siyang mga reforms na ipinangako, para pagtakpan itong the greatest heist in the history of the national budget in infrastructure, eh hindi naman natupad. So hindi rin matutupad yan. Let’s wait and see pero hindi ako naniniwala,” he added.
Erice alleged that the Senate and House leadership of the 19th Congress, along with several Cabinet members, were involved in manipulating infrastructure funds linked to anomalous projects.
“Kung may kakasuhan andaming kakasuhan,” he said.
Earlier, Remulla said his office is seriously preparing to file plunder charges against Escudero and Romualdez in connection with the flood control controversy.
