Caloocan City 2nd District Representative Egay Erice on Monday revealed that Atty. Andre De Jesus, who filed the first impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is also the lawyer of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
Erice argued that the complaint lacks merit.
“The impeachment complaint filed by Atty. Andre de Jesus can be easily dismissed, as it lacks form and substance,” he said.
The lawmaker noted the irony of De Jesus’ role, recalling his defense of the First Lady in 2024.
“It is strange that de Jesus filed the complaint against BBM when he is the same lawyer who defended FL Lisa Marcos in Nov 2024 when he filed a disbarment case against Atty. Glen Chong for vilifying the First Lady,” Erice said.
“From defender to complainant,” he added.
Erice had earlier disclosed that impeachment complaints would be filed against both Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, underscoring the intensifying political tensions surrounding the administration.
