ESTRADA FILES PERJURY CASE VS. DPWH ENGINEER OVER “FALSE” KICKBACK CLAIMS

Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday filed criminal charges against former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Assistant Engineer Brice Hernandez before the Quezon City Office of the City Prosecutor.

The case involves four counts of perjury, arising from statements Hernandez made during recent congressional inquiries.

Estrada’s move follows allegations made by Hernandez during a House hearing last month, where the engineer claimed that the senator was among the politicians who supposedly received kickbacks from flood control projects.

According to Hernandez, Estrada allegedly received “commitments” equivalent to around 30% of the total project cost for certain floodgates and pumping stations in Bulacan.

Estrada, however, denied the accusations, calling them “malicious” and “outright lies.” He stressed that he has a clear conscience and is confident that he did not engage in any wrongdoing.

“He testified in the House that he was not involved in the flood control projects but, in the Senate, siya pala yung mastermind,” Estrada said.

When asked about his confidence in the case, the senator was firm in his stance.

“I’m very confident dahil nationwide namang televised itong blue ribbon hearing makikita naman ng taong bayan na talagang napaka-sinungaling nitong tao na to,” he added.
