ESTRADA URGES RESTRAINT AFTER US CAPTURES MADURO

Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Sunday urged restraint and careful assessment following the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife by American special forces, stressing that the immediate priority should be the safety of Filipinos in Venezuela.

“Our first and foremost concern should be the well-being and safety of our kababayans who may be affected by the evolving situation in Venezuela,” Estrada said.

He cautioned against rushing to conclusions and emphasized the need for nonviolent solutions.

“At this point, it is premature to conclude whether international law has been violated, especially as the United States government maintains that the incident was part of a law-enforcement operation,” he noted.

Estrada added, “In situations such as this, restraint and careful assessment are essential to avoid speculation and unnecessary escalation.”
