EX-PNP CHIEF TORRE VOWS LOYALTY TO MARCOS DESPITE OUSTER

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III clarified he holds no grudges against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla following his sudden removal from office.

Speaking to the media after the President’s unexpected decision, Torre stressed he would follow whatever order is handed down to him.

“Look at me straight in the eye, do I look like somebody who is bitter?” Torre said.

He added: “Kung kamusta ako? Okay ako, (n)andito ako nagha-hanapbuhay.”

Torre said he maintains a good relationship with Remulla, although he admitted they have not spoken since the announcement.

While acknowledging that the President’s decision was not favorable to him, Torre vowed to continue supporting Marcos.

Alongside filing his Leave of Absence, Torre congratulated new PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., expressing hope that Nartatez would continue the programs he had started within the police force.

“I wish him well, I wish Gen. Nartatez well, he’s a very good officer,” Torre said.

Torre, however, downplayed speculations about his possible appointment as National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director, saying he does not consider himself fully qualified. This came after Remulla revealed that Marcos still wants Torre to stay within the administration, particularly in a role focused on anti-corruption efforts.
