The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday warned that fireworks-related injuries (FWRIs), reported at 235 as of early New Year’s Day, could increase as data validation continues.
Domingo noted that additional cases may still be reported late. From December 21, 2025, to 4 a.m. on January 1, 2026, the DOH recorded 235 injuries nationwide, 42% lower than the 403 incidents during the same period last year.
The most common causes of injuries were unknown firecrackers, Boga, and 5-Star.
Domingo urged anyone injured to seek immediate treatment at emergency hospitals, reminding the public that tetanus vaccinations are free in government facilities.
