The announcement was made by his daughter, Balayan Mayor Lisa Ermita-Abad, who said the former military officer and public servant died peacefully surrounded by his family.
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the Ermita family, announce the passing of our beloved father, General Eduardo Ramos Ermita (Retired), a dedicated public servant and our guiding light. He later became Executive Secretary from 2004 to 2010 under the administration of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, where he was known for his calm demeanor and disciplined leadership.
In 2023, Ermita was awarded the Gawad Kapayapaan Highest Distinction Award for his instrumental role in promoting peace between the government and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).
He leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and commitment to peace—a statesman remembered for his steadfast dedication to the Filipino people.
