FORMER NBI CHIEF SANTIAGO EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN NEW OIC MAGNO

Former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago expressed confidence in the leadership of the agency’s new officer-in-charge, Atty. Angelito Magno, saying he is capable and ready to take on the crucial task of investigating corruption in the country.

“I believe that Lito, the new director, is competent, capable, can do the job. Sabi ko sa kaniya, ‘yong tiwala ng tao, uhaw ang tao na makita na may mananagot sa mga isiniwalat ng ating Pangulo na korapsyon,” Santiago said in an interview with DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 on Monday, November 3.

He also shared a piece of advice with the new NBI-OIC, emphasizing the importance of fairness and objectivity in carrying out his duties.

“Sabi ko sa kaniya, always be objective—huwag tayong subjective. ‘Pag ka objective ka, you may be unpopular, pero tama ka. You may sound ungrateful, pero tama ka,” Santiago added.

When asked if he has plans to take on another government post, Santiago said he prefers to rest and focus on his personal life.

“Matanda na ako e, siguro pahinga. Pahinga muna. Private life, business. Mayroon kaming business na maliit e,” he shared.

Magno officially assumed his post as the NBI’s officer-in-charge on October 29, following the Palace’s acceptance of Santiago’s irrevocable resignation.
