Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito has confirmed that four senators are currently facing ethics complaints.
Ejercito, who was recently appointed as the new chairperson of the Senate Committee on Ethics, said the panel will begin reviewing the pending complaints once the committee’s membership and internal rules are finalized.
“We are committed to carrying out our mandate with integrity, impartiality, and full respect for due process,” Ejercito said.
Among those reportedly facing ethics complaints are Sen. Chiz Escudero, over allegations of receiving a ₱30-million campaign donation from a government contractor, and Senate Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros, who is accused of witness tampering in connection with the Senate’s investigation into cases involving televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
Ejercito assured both the public and his colleagues that the Ethics Committee will conduct a fair and transparent process.
