FOURTH IMPEACHMENT RAP VS VP SARA SENT TO SPEAKER DY

The House of Representatives on Thursday transmitted the fourth impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte to the office of House Speaker Faustino Dy III.

House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil confirmed that the complaint, filed Wednesday night by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera and endorsed by Representatives Benny Abante of Manila’s 6th District and Paolo Ortega of La Union’s 1st District, was formally received at 6:34 p.m. on Wednesday and forwarded to the Speaker’s office the following day.

“The fourth impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte was formally received by the Office of the Secretary General at 6:34 p.m. on Wednesday and has been transmitted to the Office of Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ G. Dy III today, Thursday, in accordance with established House rules,” the statement read.

Garafil’s office clarified that its role is purely ministerial, limited to receiving and transmitting pleadings and documents filed with the House. It emphasized that any action on the complaint will proceed strictly in accordance with the Constitution and House rules.

The first two impeachment complaints against Duterte were transmitted to the Speaker’s office on February 5, while the third was forwarded on February 10.

Under House rules, the Office of the Speaker has until March 2 to include the impeachment complaints in the plenary’s order of business.
