Telecommunications firm Globe Telecom is extending free roaming support to Filipinos in several Middle Eastern countries following heightened tensions and ongoing conflict in the region.
In a statement Monday, Globe said eligible users in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait will automatically receive the roaming relief package through its partner networks.
“This roaming relief package includes 1GB of all-access data, 15 minutes of calls, and 15 SMS credits valid for seven days, to support critical communication needs,” Globe said.
The offer will be automatically activated for Globe Prepaid, TM, and Postpaid subscribers, with confirmation messages sent once the service is ready. Customers are advised to connect to Globe’s preferred roaming partners in each country to avail of the benefit.
Aside from the free roaming package, Globe is also providing load support or bill adjustments to customers in Iran to help offset connectivity costs, administered through account credit adjustments tied to usage patterns with partners such as MTN Irancell.
The assistance comes amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East. On Sunday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed the first reported Filipino casualty, caregiver Mary Anne Velazquez de Vera from Pangasinan, who was killed in Israel during a retaliatory Iranian strike. Marcos vowed full government support for her family.
The conflict intensified after the United States and Israel launched a major military operation against Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and US bases across the region.
