GONZALES DENIES KNOWING OF ANY NEW OMBUDSMAN PROBE

Former Pampanga 3rd District Representative Dong Gonzales on Thursday denied knowledge of any ongoing Office of the Ombudsman investigation into alleged conflict of interest involving Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects linked to him.

In a statement, Gonzales said he is open to being investigated but has not received formal notice of any new probe.

“I welcome any inquiry on the matter, but I am not aware of an ongoing Ombudsman investigation against me on prohibited interest,” he said.

Gonzales emphasized that a similar complaint had already been dismissed.

“I recall that a case involving the same projects was dismissed by the Ombudsman in 2023 for lack of merit,” he noted, adding that the issue “appears to be a rehashed and recycled subject, if any.”

Ombudsman Boying Remulla earlier confirmed an investigation into Gonzales over potential conflict of interest related to DPWH infrastructure projects, including contracts awarded to A.D. Gonzales Jr. Construction worth about ₱1.6 billion in flood-control works.
