The arrest of former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque appears to be drawing nearer as the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed that the government has already sought an Interpol red notice in connection with a human trafficking case.
PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio said in an interview that the Philippine government has formally reached out to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to issue an international arrest warrant for Roque.
Casio noted that Roque has been insisting he is a victim of political prosecution because of his ties to former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in The Hague over his administration’s anti-drug campaign.
A red notice allows law enforcement agencies worldwide to help locate a suspect.
The case is linked to the illegal POGO operations of Lucky South 99 in Pampanga, where Cassandra Ong—released after her detention at the House of Representatives—also faces accusations.
Roque was last reported in Germany after the Netherlands allegedly rejected his asylum request, according to the Department of Justice.
